The 7 Things To Do After You Beat Destiny 2: The Final Shape (2024)

Highlights

  • Focus on raising your power and season pass level to passively earn rewards and challenge harder content.
  • Switch characters to unlock the Prismatic subclass with unique super abilities for a new perspective in battles.
  • Hunt for weapon patterns to craft specific rolls and work on seasonal challenges for XP and Bright Dust rewards.

Once you complete Destiny 2: The Final Shape's campaign and finish your final battle against the Witness, you may feel uncertain about where to go next. The Final Shape campaign is very structured and gives you clear goals to achieve, so it can be difficult to decide which content to play first after so much guidance.

There are plenty of options available to you, whether you're a hardcore Guardian itching to grind, or want to get your hands on a few shiny new toys. From excellent solo goals to grinds that go much faster with friends, these are the best things to do after you beat The Final Shape's campaign.

Given its inherent connection to the campaign and restriction to teams of six, the Salvation's Edge Raid is not included.

7 Raise Your Power/Season Pass Level

Depending on your set of priorities, the season pass and power level grind is a simple way to passively earn rewards by playing however you'd like. If you want to adventure around the Pale Heart or mindlessly complete core activities like Strikes, you'll enjoy watching your season pass level climb.

Luckily, the season pass will also help you to earn better gear with a higher power level, just in case you want to challenge some of the harder content. If you're just here to shoot some aliens and have fun, these simple goals will give you a way to track your overall progress.

6 Switch Characters To Unlock Prismatic

Once you complete the story on your main character, you should take a few moments to complete the Transmigration mission and unlock your Prismatic subclass on each character, even if you stick to one over the other two.

It's helpful to have the flexibility to tackle a difficult challenge differently by switching to another character.

Hunter, Warlock, and Titan each have powerful new Super abilities that offer distinct combinations from any other class. Prismatic brings an entirely new perspective with powerful combinations of Light and Darkness abilities to use in tandem.

5 Unlock Weapon Patterns

If you need to craft a weapon to help you bypass the variety of enemy shields in The Final Shape, then put your time into hunting weapon patterns. Crafting takes the randomness out of things, allowing you to get the exact roll you want.

You can earn new weapon patterns by completing activities like Overthrow and the Salvations's Edge Raid.

While it may take some time to gather enough patterns to unlock a weapon's crafting pattern, the reward is worth the effort, as you'll never need to hunt down that weapon again when you can get any roll you want on it.

4 Work On Seasonal Challenges

Seasonal Challenges are an excellent way to earn XP and Bright Dust to accelerate your season pass level-ups. These challenges are another fantastic way to guide your play sessions with clear goals on an easy-to-read checklist.

The rewards aren't great, but Seasonal Challenges can often be completed organically if you choose to follow the stories released every week. Unlike prior seasons, The Final Shape introduced a new way to engage with the story and complete objectives: Echoes.

3 Complete Echoes As They Release

Echoes replace the prior seasonal model, offering three acts of concentrated story beats to keep you engaged throughout the episode.

You can finish objectives and earn upgrades as you complete Echoes each weekly reset.

If you want to continue engaging with the Destiny 2 story, but don't have much interest in grinding gear or power levels, then this path will offer you a reason to check back in every week. The stories in Echoes will tie up any loose ends and lingering questions, so there's plenty of closure to look forward to.

2 Do Exotic Quests

Destiny 2 is a looter shooter, so why not spend your time hunting for some of the new guns released in The Final Shape? From new powerhouses like Still Hunt to old favorites like Khvostov, Exotic quests are back in a big way, with several guns to earn.

These missions can be done alone or with friends, so they present a great way to play for any group. Still Hunt is one of the best weapons to bring to Salvation's Edge or the Excision mission, so completing the relatively short set of objectives to get it will be a fantastic time investment.

1 Grind Bright Dust Via Pathfinder

Once you've exhausted every story, Exotic quest, seasonal challenge, and earned everything you want, head to the Pale Heart, where you can finally play the game. Pathfinder gives you a set of tasks to complete to form a path to the final reward node.

You'll receive excellent rewards, like Bright Dust, XP, Ghost Reputation Ranks, and the Ergo Sum Exotic. Pathfinder is a great way to make incremental progress without committing to a long activity. Whatever it helps you achieve, Pathfinder is one of the best ways for casual and veteran Guardians to enjoy Destiny 2: The Final Shape.

You earn 150 Bright Dust for each of your first ten Pathfinder completions, then 30 for each subsequent one.
