Schools are the prefect place to discuss #soilhealth and #circulareconomy Full Lesson Plan 📖 below:Exploring Tiny Giants (microbes), Nutrient Density, and Circular Economy in Our Lunchboxes Although this certainly didn’t go to “plan” it was magic, as always, to work with a friend and colleague in Gil NAPPER.A comment from a grade three student has stuck in my head all weekend..“How come your watermelon looks funny?”I can’t help but feel like an opportunity exists to share with kids that fruits and vegetables need to be judged on the inside (nutrient density and biological complexity) and not the outside (shape, colour and blemishes). It starts with how we colour in and select fruits and veggies at home.Happy Tuesday.

My son has chatted a lot to us about your visit, and loves to talk about their 'veggie' garden at school.

The ripple effects of learning the difference between regenerative Ag and industrial Ag and how food is and has always been medicine is old school wisdom. The ripple effects of learning about how to grow, what food miles are, what soil health means for our quality of life will be a major contributor to reducing dependence on fast food, lower cost of living, and changing the face of education when kids learn how systems work; who grew or made your stuff. Teaching our kids the systems of modern life can be old school and tech at the same time. We need both. Plus the mental health benefits of grounding through gardening and soil is good for the whole family. Wouldn’t it be great if the new third space in our lives was either our gardens or a community garden. Imagine what this will inspire these kids to be; agronomists, farmers, foodies, environmental scientists, or the next gen of Costa’sNot to mention nutritional lunch boxes, I can’t tell you how many times I saw kids lunch boxes filled with food in plastic wrappers as a mum helping out at school. The kids who were hyper had the higher sugar lunches. Better food, better attention spans at school it makes a difference and teachers will love you for it. 💚💚

"Mumma, what is the hand pump?" my daughter asked innocently, prompting me to ponder why she lacked knowledge of such a fundamental aspect of daily life.Yet, it's a stark reality. She's grown up seeing water flow effortlessly from taps and showers, with drinking water conveniently delivered in cans. Gone are the days of the joyous ritual of pumping water by hand and eagerly cupping it with your palms. Those nostalgic moments of yesteryears, where children raced to fetch water from the hand pump, are now distant memories for today's generation. It's disheartening to realize that soon, children may not even understand the simple truth that food originates from the earth, not from supermarket shelves neatly packed in plastic wrappers. The profound appreciation for food's true value diminishes when they've never witnessed a farmer toiling under the sun to nurture and harvest it.For them, the concept that 'money can buy everything' reigns supreme, disconnecting them from the intrinsic worth of life's basic necessities.Just a few years ago, cooking classes were considered unnecessary, as traditional knowledge was passed down from generation to generation within the home. Now, I find myself conducting sessions in various corporations and schools, aiming to bridge the gap for those who perceive cooking as simply opening a pack and preparing instant noodles in two minutes.Indeed, times have changed, but as parents and educators, it's our responsibility to ensure that essential life lessons and values are not lost in the whirlwind of modern convenience. It's time to rethink where we are heading. We need to learn the Basic "ART OF COOKING FOOD"#kukclean#motivationspeaker#cleanfood#Cleaneating#healthyeating#plantbased

Have you ever thought about the amount of energy—Qi—it takes to prepare a meal?Let’s start with the Qi needed for the food to grow. Of course, every type of food has its own growth process, but in general, a seed is planted and with the proper amount of water, nutrients, and sunlight, it grows into a seedling. Little by little, this tiny sprout flourishes until it reaches its potential and fruits. #tcmworld #perspective #tips #waste #time #neverwasteanything #requiresqihttps://lnkd.in/eYyEWgdX

Donna did a great job playing the sound bowls today. Donna is a coach who helps women access their higher selves. For more info, DM her on IG. Today’s lesson was about the importance of eating high-vibrational food, why you should eat it, where you should be getting most of your food, and why to pray over food. Eating high-energy foods helps us reach higher consciousness and to better connect with our higher source: God.You should be getting most of your food from the farmers market because the key difference between farmers markets versus supermarkets has to do with transportation. Most farms that supply produce to grocers pick items while they’re still unripe. Then, they transport them an average of 1,500 from the farm to store. When farmers reduce long travel times, they can harvest precisely what’s ready for consumption in the season. Those who sell at farmers market significantly shorten the distance from farm to table, so you can purchase recently picked, perfectly ripe fruits and vegetables. Plus, you can support the environment, as lower distances equal fewer carbon emissions. If you can’t make it to the local farmer’s market, check out @jrorganic they have custom boxes that you can pick it up weekly. Did you know praying over your food increases the health properties of your meal?It has been scientifically proven that prayer changes frequencies and food is a frequency.Expressing gratitude, giving thanks, and blessing food is an ancient energy technique.Prayer and gratitude may be the most important and profound energy techniques of all when it comes to intentional eating. So remember to do this, especially when you are going out to a restaurant. #healing #soundbathhealing #manhattanbeach #community #highvibrationliving

I am pessimistic about the human race because it is too ingenious for its own good. Our approach is to beat it into submission. We would stand a better chance of survival if we accommodated ourselves to this planet and viewed it appreciatively instead of skeptically and dictatorially. Rachel Carson in Silent Spring. An intro to "Nutritional value and flavor are frequently sacrificed in favor of the bottom line. Overall, Americans lack the information they need to make healthy food choices. Rather than take the time to educate ourselves, we seem to prefer to ignore the problems created by our current methods of food production. Additionally, we have grown accustomed to getting exactly the foods we want year-round, and farmers around the world are happy to meet our market demand; as a nation, we can afford it. Our planet cannot. Cooper Holmes in Bitter Harvest.

Allow me to comment on this as a luhya....Edible insects are a promising alternative food source due to their high nutritional composition and sustainable production. They contain high-quality protein, vitamins, amino acids, and bioactive compounds that can provide various health benefits, such as antioxidant, antihypertensive, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and immunomodulatory effects.Edible insects can also reduce the environmental impact of food production, as they require less land, water, and feed, and emit less greenhouse gases than conventional livestock. In Kenya, the consumption of edible insects is a long-standing tradition, especially in the western parts of the country, where the Luhya people are known for their love of kumbekumbe, the local name for termites. Termites are harvested during the rainy season, using special tents and holes lined with banana leaves. They are then boiled(Khukaranga) and dried in the sun, and eaten as a snack or a side dish. Termites are rich in protein, energy, essential fatty acids, and minerals, and are believed to make men stronger. Some residents have turned the termite delicacy into a successful business, selling them in local markets or online platforms.Edible insects are not only a source of food, but also a source of culture and identity for many Kenyan communities. They are part of the local cuisine, folklore, and rituals, and have a symbolic meaning for different occasions. For example, the Luhya people name some of their children after termites, such as Waswa and Naswa, to signify their importance and value. Edible insects are also used as gifts, offerings, or medicine, depending on the context and the species.Edible insects are a valuable resource that can contribute to food security, nutrition, health, and income generation for many Kenyans. They are also a way of preserving and promoting the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the country. Edible insects are indeed a functional food that can benefit both humans and the environment. sadly 😔...our climate change 😭 is affecting the availability of the termites at the moment...Mwima George Echessa ....FAO ICIPE - International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology ....
