For alumni who would like to request an account using their personal email, contact careers@wwu.edu. Once your account has been updated, you will receive an email with instructions from Handshake. ​

Step 1: Go to JoinHandshake.com ​

Step 2: Click on Career Center in upper right corner ​

Step 3: Click Schedule Appointment ​

Step 4: Choose an Appointment Category ​

Step 5: Choose an Appointment Type ​

Step 6: Fill out your information, click request, and you’re all set!​

  • Job Type: Select part-time job, full-time job, and/or internship ​
  • Cities: Choose the places you’d like to work in or near ​
  • Roles: Select at least 3 job roles that interest you​

​Update this information in “My Career Interests,” located in the dropdown menu in the upper righthand corner of the screen.

Yes!This information helps employers understand why you’d be a great addition to their team.​

​Students with a full profile are 5x more likely to be messaged by employers.​

  • Previous work experience:Have you had a part-time job, internship, work study, research position, and/or volunteered?​
  • Skills:Add technical and soft skills!​
  • Clubs and organizations:These highlight your specific interests and involvement on campus.
  • Search often.New opportunities are posted every day!​
  • Vary your search terms.Different key words will bring up different postings.​
  • If you aren’t satisfied with your results,try using fewer filtersat once. Sometimes great opportunities can be eliminated by just one filter.

Add the word “remote”in the search terms box. (There is not currently a setting in the Location filters to identify remote opportunities.)
